Nostalgia
Language: English  after the Chinese (中文)
Clear the stage of the fallen yellow leaves,
the dew is as bright as snow.
Curtains shut, she hears the sound of an exotic harp,
a reminder of her long lost lover.

Translator's Note for line 3: This ancient plucked instrument (kōnghóu in Mandarin) has been revived in a modernized form in the 20th century (a large concert pedal harp with two rows of strings). During the Tang dynasty it referred to all “foreign” plucked instruments at court. The name, referring to a variety of ancient Central Asian harps found in ancient Chinese courts, may derive from "čangaryā" or “čingaryā” (in the Sogdian language, an Iranian language formerly spoken near the border of modern Uzbekistan and Tajikistan).
