by Carsten Hauch (1790 - 1872)

Naar Skytten udsender den hvasse Piil
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Naar Skytten udsender den hvasse Piil,
Maa Fuglen i Luften dale;
Han bad mig at seile vel hundrede Miil
Til sine forgyldte Sale.

I Bølgen svømmer med Dødens Mod
Den Fisk, der med Angelen leger,
De giøde mit strømmende Hierteblod
I Kongens forgyldte Bæger.

En Ørn opstiger bag salten Sø,
Dens Vinger er’ altfor sorte;
Hvo bygger det Skib, der fra Verdens Ø
Kan seile til Himmerigs Porte?

Foroven glimter det høieste Tag,
Med Perler og Guld uden Lige,
At falde derfra er slet ingen Sag,
Men vanskeligt did at stige.
