Heimweh
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nach den Bergen geht mein Sehnen,
nach den Bergen schaut mein Blick;
möchte an der Felswand lehnen,
schauen in das Tal zurück.

Möcht' die Gletscher wieder grüßen,
möchte auf der Alpe steh'n,
schau'n die weißen Bergesriesen
und den frischen Gießbach seh'n.

Möcht zurück zur stillen Hütte
in das traute, liebe Tal.
Himmel, höre meine Bitte:
Ende meines Herzens Qual!

Note provided by Johann Winkler: The actress and playwright Amalie Pauline Raupach (1810-1877) used the pseudonym "A. P." so this text may have been written by her. There is no evidence she published poetry; however, the poem may have appeared in one of her plays.
