Wenn säuseln die Windlein,
dann schaut das Christkindlein
zum dunkelen Fenster herein.
Da sieht es wohl hinter
dem Vorhang die Kinder
und horcht, ob vielleicht sie nicht schrei'n.

Und wenn sie gehorchen,
dann bringt es bis morgen
viel' Sachen von Zucker und Gold,
d'rum legt euch zufrieden,
dann hat es beschieden
bis morgen früh, was ihr nur wollt.
