Erhab'ne Nacht, lass deine Strahlen schimmern,
führ' alle deine Sonnen auf!
Das Irdische vollendet seinen Lauf;
es richtet an den wüsten Trümmern
der eingesunk'nen Zeit die Ewigkeit sich auf.
Lass die Erd' in ihrer Wolkenhülle,
mit ihrem kleinen Stolz und ihrem niedern Ruhm!
Auf! Folge mir zu jener Weltenfülle!
Dort öffnet uns ein Gott ein tiefes Heiligtum.
