Im Wald der erste Vogel singt,
Am Baum die erste Knospe springt,
Und erstes Liebeslächeln bricht
Aus Deinem süßen Angesicht; --
Und wann erst Alles bunt und grün
Und hunderttausend Blumen blüh'n,
Die Vöglein ihre Nester bau'n
Dann will Dich im Kranze schau'n,
Dann bring' ich Dir den Hochzeitsstrauß,
Dann schmück' ich Dir mein sonn'ges Haus,
Dann führen wir den Reigen,
Dann sollst Du sein mein eigen!

March
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
In the forest the first bird is singing,
Upon the tree the first blossom is opening,
And the first smile of love breaks forth
Upon your sweet face; --
And then, when everything is colourful and green
And a hundred thousand flowers bloom,
[When] the birds build their nests,
Then I shall see you in your [bridal] wreath,
Then I shall bring you the wedding bouquet,
Then I shall garland my sunny house for you,
Then we shall lead the [wedding] dance,
Then you shall be my own!
