by Christiane Rosalia Friederik (1839 - 1901), as Ada Christen

Im Walde
Language: German (Deutsch)
So gross, so still, so feierlich,
ragen die Bäume empor,
nicht Menschenlaut, noch Vogellied,
dringt an mein Ohr....
Leises Summen hoch oben
zieht in der klaren Luft,
lichtgrüner Schein liegt auf dem Moos
und würziger Nadelduft:
als wäre aus der lauten Welt
aller Friede hergezogen
und flösse sacht durch dieses Thal
in weichen sanften Wogen,
und flösse sacht und sonder Schall
durch ruhelose Herzen,
so hehr, so ernst, so feierlich,
fortspülend alle Schmerzen.

Confirmed with Deutsche Lyrik seit Goethe's Tode, twelfth edition, ed. by Maximilian Bern, Leipzig, Philipp Reclam junior, 1886, pages 56-57.
