by Heinrich Seidel (1842 - 1906)

Das Posthorn
Language: German (Deutsch)
Horchend über schroffe Mauern
Auf die Nachtigallenlieder
Schaun zwei jugendliche Nonnen
In das Thal voll Sehnsucht nieder.
Wundervolle Frühlingsmondnacht!
Klang und Sang in lauen Lüften,
Luft'gen Silbers volle Schale,
Schwimmt das Thal in Glanz und Düften.
Horch, da rollt's im Grund; es klinget
Eines Posthorns muntres Tönen,
Und die Jüngste hüllt ihr Antlitz,
Und sie wendet sich mit Thränen. -
Doch die Klosterglocke schrillend
Übertönt das Horn, das helle -
Und die Nonnen wandeln schweigend
Zum Gebet in ihre Zelle.
