by Adolf Frey (1855 - 1920)

Abends
Language: German (Deutsch)
Das Fieber brennt, mein Kopf ist schwer,
und meine Wunde schmerzt mich sehr.
Hilf, Herr, laß mich gesunden
und laß im Morgensonnenschein
mich wieder heil und rüstig sein!

Doch wenn es steht in deinem Schluß,
daß ich zur Grube fahren muß,
so will ich mich nicht grämen.
Mir ist nur leid ums Mütterlein,
das wird auf immer traurig sein.

Confirmed with Adolf Frey, Gedichte, zweite vermehrte Auflage, Leipzig: H. Haessel Verlag, 1908. Appears in Lieder eines Freiharstbuben, page 316.
