An das Vaterland

Du bist das Land, wo von den Hängen
Der Freiheit Rosengarten lacht,
Und das in hunder Waffengängen
Der Ahn zur Heimat uns gemacht.

Wenn uns in fremder schöner Ferne
In weichen Armen wiegt das Glück,
Es treibt uns unter deine Sterne,  
In deine treue Hut zurück. 

Wir wollen deine Waffen schmieden,
Wir wollen deine Grund besä'n
Und standhaft in der Berge Frieden
Der Schickung in das Antlitz sehn. 

Was uns an Erdengut versinken, 
An Wonnen uns entschwinden mag,
Wir wollen deine Lüfte trinken
Bis zu des Herzens letzten Schlag.

Und ruft das Horn in rauhen Tagen,
Daß wir uns um die Fahne reihn,
Wir wollen alles für dich ragen
Und frei sein oder nicht mehr sein.
