by Ida Marie Luise Sophie Friederike Gustava Hahn-Hahn (1805 - 1880)

Am Rheinfall
Language: German (Deutsch)
In den Abgrund lass mich schauen
von der jähen Felsenwand;
meine Seele kennt kein Grauen,
denn es hält mich deine Hand.

Sollte ich zu tief mich bücken,
sollte Schwindel mich umweh'n,
brauchst mich nur ans Herz zu drücken,
und die Furcht wird schon vergehn.

Aber du, du darfst nicht beben
vor den Drohen der Gefahr,
denn dein Arm kann mich entheben
ihr, sobald du nimmst sie wahr.

Sieh, mich freut's nach meiner Weise,
dass es drunten tobt und stürmt,
und dein Blick so heimlich leise
meine Seele mild beschirmt.
