Dream of childhood, never-ending dream, Beautiful dream of which one is never done singing. My lips tremble, my soul quakes, I hardly know what I think, what I write. Is this still the valley, is it still the same Widely stretched-out blue canopy of heaven? Are you blossoming, lovely springtime, are you blossoming again, Are you again kissing this old world? You forests with the green tree-tops, are you still Soughing unknown yearning into my heart? You dark mountain tops, are you still rising heavenward Thickly forested and burgeoning green? Yes, I walk those paths once more, The paths of my childhood through the forest, Golden lights play upon the walkway, Lead me with magical power. Once again you lift my soul Upon your pinions, lofty imagination, Over the valleys and hills of my lovely homeland You magically spread poetry!
