Am Kamin

Draußen in Herbsteskühle, fallende Blätter vom Wind zerstreut,
innen warm Behagen, knisterndes Holz die Flamme erneut.
Sieh, die Funken enteilen in Hast ihres Kerkers  feurigem Glast.
Mußt du nicht gedenken wie ich im Herbste zuerst dich sah,
rings lag alles öde, uns aber kam der Frühling nah.
 
Frühling mit Duft und Sangeslust,
Glimmende Sorgen entwichen der Brust.
Matter brennt die Flamme, will sie beleben mit leisem Hauch.
Noch ein letztes Flackern, stirbt dieses Fünkchen auch.
Traumvolle Dämmerung ist dahin.
Ahnen und Bangen, fort aus dem Sinn.
