Himlen i brusende 
Fos mod Havet.
Havet med knyttede 
Klør mod Himlen

Skumsprøiten steilende 
høit foran Bougen,
flaksende mod mig i 
gustne Gestalter.

Opifra dybet 
Slanger som slikker,
henad mit Ansigt med 
valne Tunger,

Opifra Dybet, 
indover Rælingen,
famlende, kradsende, 
knoklede Hænder.

Døden staar krum bortved 
Rattet og synger.
Hjælp os, Herre

Geignantes, mugissantes,
Voix dans la tempête,
hurlantes, rauques,
Cris venus des ténèbres.

Ciel grondant,
cascade contre la mer..
Griffes de la mer,
crispée contre le ciel.

Écume jaillissante, se cabrant,
haute devant l'étrave,
volant vers moi,
silhouettes blafardes.

D’en haut, des profondeurs,
des serpents lèchent
mon visage
de leurs langues engourdies.

D’en haut, des profondeurs,
par-dessus le bastingage,
mains tâtonnantes,
griffantes, décharnées.

La mort chante
courbée près de la barre.
Seigneur, aide-nous
du haut des cieux !
