Christ lay in the bonds of Death,
Given for our sin,
He has risen again
And has brought us life;
For this we should be joyful,
Praise God and give thanks to Him,
And sing hallelujah.

None of the children of Man
Were able to overcome Death;
All of it caused by our transgression,
No innocence was to be found.
Soon Death arose from it,
And took control of us,
Holding us captive in its kingdom.
HJallelujah!

Jesus Christ, God’s Son,
Has come to stand in our stead,
And has laid aside our sins
Thereby taking from Death 
All of its control and power,
So that nothing remains save Death’s shadow,
Death has lost its sting.
Hallelujah!

It was an incredible war,
That Death and Life pursued,
Life seized the victory,
Devouring Death.
The scriptures had so prophesied,
That one death would consume another,
Death has been made a mockery.
Hallelujah!

Here is the true Paschal Lamb,
That was offered by God;
Which, high on the beam of the cross,
Was seared in blazing love,
The blood marks our door,
Faith shielding it from Death,
The murderer can no longer harm us.
Hallelujah!

So, we celebrate the great feast
With hearts full of joy and delight,
That the Lord shines upon us,
He is, Himself, the sun,
Who, with merciful gleaming,
Entirely illuminates our hearts,
The nighttime of sinning has fled.
Hallelujah!

We eat and live happily
On the true Bread of Easter,
The old leavening shall not
Endure the word of grace;
Christ will be our portion
Nourishing the soul alone,
Faith cannot live any other way.
