Ich bin Abdallahs Kind, der Sproß des Mannes,
Der strahlend ritt auf einem roten Pferd.

Wenn du das Mahl bereitet hast, so hole
Den Gast herein, daß er sich auch erlabe, –

Sei es ein später Wandrer, seis ein Nachbar,
Ich will nicht, daß man Übles von mir spricht.

Ich bin der Knecht des Gastes, der mich aufsucht;
Sonst aber hab ich wahrlich nichts von Knechtes Art!
