This world offers us many joys, And the basis and goal of all joys Is eternally [only] love! Many a sorrow comes to you as well, Oh, only so that you may realize How love can comfort you! And if love has become a beautiful portion for you, Do not forget, you owe such a blessing Solely to the love of your God! Oh, most fervently offer only to Him daily Honour, glory, and praise For all the happiness of love! And that [love] may remain and never end, Lift your heart and hands to Him Who Himself is love! And from the eternal well-spring Shall flow ever more abundantly, fresh and bright, Oh bliss, love upon love!
