Sonnenkraft

The power of the sun
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
As Phoebus in springtime invites the singers
Of wood and valley to join the choir of delight,
Thus with an igniting beam your appearance,
You heavenly sun, also wakens singing!
Oh, incline your ear to the heartfelt greetings
That love lays adoringly at your feet.
Just as the plant is sustained by light
And wilts when it lacks warmth,
Thus the amiable arts also decay
If they are not animated by the sun from the throne.
Oh, incline your ear to our honest striving,
Which transforms life into an ideal world.
