Sous ce beau ciel qu'un pur soleil inonde
Comme un banni, je pleure et me souviens ;
Grand lac d'azur, vallons fleuris, moisson féconde,
Autour de moi la main de Dieu n'épargne rien.
Mais à mon cœur nul charme qui réponde
Ce beau pays, ce beau pays, n'est pas le mien !

Il est au loin des plaines de bruyère,
Champs désolés, où sont tous mes amours,
où l'on ne voit que noirs rochers couverts de lierre,
Qu'une eau dormante un ciel de brume aux plus beaux jours.
Mais ô mon Dieu, rends les à ma prière,
C'est mon pays, mon cœur est là toujours.
