De vagebond

Morgenwind wekt mij, blaadrend in de boom
Waaronder ik in droom lag met een vrouw
Zo wulps als lieflijk, maar zelfs in die droom,
Toch zeer kortstondig, bleef ik haar niet trouw.

De kim woei open. Ik was weer verheugd
En wies mijn warm gezicht in morgendauw.
Ik roofde een landmeisje haar melk en deugd
Met volle teugen, en had geen berouw.

Ik leef. Ik vrees alleen dat 't web van wegen
Dat zich al nauwer om de wereld spant,
Mij niet meer doorlaat naar het ver gelegen,
Steeds wenkend en steeds wijkend wonderland
