by Théodore Faullin de Banville (1823 - 1891)

Le rossignol
Language: French (Français)
Vois, sur les violettes
Brillent, perles des soirs,
De fraîches gouttelettes !
Entends dans les bois noirs,
Frémissants de son vol,
Chanter le rossignol.

Reste ainsi, demi-nue,
A la fenêtre ; viens,
Mon amante ingénue ;
Dis si tu te souviens
Des mots que tu m'as dits,
Naguère, au paradis !

La lune est radieuse ;
La mer aux vastes flots,
La mer mélodieuse
Pousse de longs sanglots
De désir et d'effroi,
Comme moi ! comme moi !

Mais non, tais-toi, j'admire,
A tes genoux assis,
Ta lèvre qui soupire,
Tes yeux aux noirs sourcils !
C'était hier ! je veux
Dénouer tes cheveux.

O toison ! ô parure
Que je caresse encor !
Non, tu n'es pas parjure,
Ma belle aux cheveux d'or,
Mon ange retrouvé !
J'étais fou. J'ai rêvé.
