Abschied vom heiligen Land

Leb' wohl, des Morgens Herrlichkeit,
wo stets die Sonne lacht;
ich ziehe fort von dir so weit
und deiner Märchenpracht.
Denn Sehnsucht nach dem heim'schen Strand
erfüllt die Seele mir,
wo meines Glückes Wiege stand,
sie reißt mich fort von dir.

Hemmt auch die Träne nicht mein Lied,
und wird nicht trüb mein Blick,
doch mahnt das Herz mich, wenn ich schied,
an all dein Zauberglück.
Ich preise laut die Schönheit dein
und deiner Wunder Strahl,
gedenk' daran im Abendschein -
leb' wohl viel' Tausendmal.
