Elle s'ouvre pâle et mouillée
Des pleurs du brouillard matinal.

Un parfum triste et doux s'épanche
De la mélancolique fleur ;
La main qui vers elle se penche
Est parfois lente et sans chaleur.

Pauvres et chères violettes,
Ceux qui vous béniront toujours
Sont les amantes et les poëtes.

Souvenir vivant des beaux jours,
Comme vous allez droit à l'âme
Qu'emplit le seul nom d'une femme !
