possibly by Adolf Frey (1855 - 1920)

Kriegers Morgenlied vor der Schlacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wir schaaren uns zum Banner,
Da schon der Morgen tagt
Und rufen deine Gnade,
Maria, reine Magd!

Du weißt der Seele Noth,
Weißt alle Fehl und Sünden,
Lass' deine Hut uns finden,
Wenn uns der Kampf umdroht!

Wir treten kühn zum Streite,
Wie es dem Freien frommt;
Unser Muth bleibt ungebrochen,
Wenn es zum Sterben kommt.

Das Harsthorn ruft uns schon,
Soll'n wir im Streite sterben,
Lass' uns den Himmel erwerben
Durch Christum deinen Sohn!
