Går jag ej här rusig av rosendoft
-- ändå ha inga rosor kommit! --
Skälver ej allt höljt i gudomligt skir?
Hemliga löften dagrarna viska.

Fjärranifrån nådde mig nyss en vind,
lätt som en återhållen andning,
fylld av en blyg bävande väntans doft.
Allt sedan dess ett under jag anar.

Intet jag vet -- går som i fjärran land,
går som i dröm, i dröm om rosor.
Allt är som förr -- likväl är allt förbytt.
Sällsamma gåtfullhet över tingen!
