Sneetwittchens Freude
in froher Lust,
ach, wie sie singen
aus voller Brust!
Lalala lalala!
So lustig geht es Tag um Tag,
mein Herz kennt Sorge nicht und Plag';
kein Leid ist mir beschieden,
so recht bin ich zufrieden.
Wie bin ich doch ein glücklich Kind,
so fröhlich, wie die Vöglein sind,
wenn sie sich wiegen
von Baum zu Baum,
singend dann fliegen
zum Himmelsraum!
Lalala lalala!
Bricht dann herein die stille Nacht,
und ich hab' alles wohl gemacht,
dann sitz' ich auf der Schwelle,
schau' in das Mondlicht helle;
dann denk' ich an mein Mütterlein
und schließ' in mein Gebet sie ein.
Gehen die Vögelein
all' zur Ruh',
sing' ich noch immer,
's hört keines mir zu:
Lalala lalala!

Snow White's Joy
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
How wonderful it is here in the house
From early until late, it’s always good.
How lovely it is in the garden
Waiting for the little flowers
And then, to go into the forest
To see my beloved little birds,
As they fly about
In joyful pleasure,
Ah, how they sing
From full hearts!
Lalala lalala!
So happily passes day after day,
My heart knows no concern or displeasure;
No sorrow comes to me,
So contented I am.
I am indeed a happy child,
So merry, just like the birds are,
When they flutter
From tree to tree,
Singing, then flying
Up to the heavens!
Lalala lalala!
Then the quiet night arrives,
And I have completed everything well,
Then I sit on the stoop,
And gaze at the bright moonlight;
Then, I think about my mother
And keep her in my prayers.
All of the little birds
Go to sleep,
Yet I continue to sing,
No one listening to me:
Lalala lalala!
