Ich geh' durch den Wald, mir Frieden zu suchen, 
Der Juliwind fächelt im Wipfelgrün. 
Das Farnkraut wuchert, es schatten die Buchen. 
Die Föhren blühn. 

So ungestört liegt das goldene Dämmern, 
So heiligstill, wie es Gott erschuf. 
Nur Finkenschlag tönt und des Spechtes Hämmern 
Und Kuckucksruf. 

Aus grünem Dickicht lugen die Rehe.  --  
Meines Herzens Unrast hat aufgehört. 
Mir hatten Gedanken, gar wilde, wehe, 
Den Sinn gestört.  

Ich ging durch den Wald, mir Frieden zu suchen. 
O heiliges Rauschen im Wipfelgrün! 
Das Farnkraut wuchert, es schatten die Buchen, 
Die Föhren blühn!
