by Holger Henrik Herholdt Drachmann (1846 - 1908)

Vogt paa dit Øje!
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Hvergang Du var gaaet, saa tænkte jeg paa
-- O mine rolige Drømme! --
paa Alt, hvad jeg vilde Du skulde forstaa;
men aldrig til Læben kan Ordet naa',
dine Øjne varsler mig Fare.
Der brænder en spørgende Ild i dit Blik.
Jeg tør ikke svare.

Hvi vil Du forfølge den Flygtende saa?
-- O mine rolige Drømme! --
Hvergang Du berører den klirrende Slaa,
det er, som jeg skulde i Angst forgaa;
hvi kan dog den Leg Dig fornøje?
Men fødtes Du stærk, saa benyt ej din Magt.
Vogt paa dit Øje!
