The twinkle of the evening star Makes every pain feel more mild, From out of the darkness, faith Urges the weary heart upward. Ave Maria! every heart and mouth Whispers devoutly. Though it may grow dreary upon earth, There is light in the depths of the soul. Ave Maria! the night Breathes in the silent valley, The Mother of God emerges Gently from out of the blue aether.
