Vil schöner kunst und gaben
Language: German (Deutsch)
Vil schöner kunst und gaben
darvon wir freude haben,
die ere Gott geziemt.
Die singekunst
hat preis und gunst,
denn sie giebt freud und wonne.
Lieblicher g'sang,
schön saitenklang
ist aller Kunst ein Krone.

Ich glaub nicht, dass man finde
so köstlich arzenei,
darvon so bald verschwinde
die schwer' melancholei,
als wo man singt,
dass lieblich klingt,
all traurigkeit muss weichen;
drum lobt und ert
die music wert!
Die Kunst hat nicht ihrs gleichen.

Note: quoted by Wilhelm Jensen (1837-1911) in his Die Pfeifer von Dusenbach, Eine Geschichte aus dem Elsass, published 1884.
