 Du kehrst zur Heimat wieder,
 hier oben dir der Frieden nicht erblüht.
 Ich wollt'erfahren,
 um wieviel besser denn die Menschen sind,
 in denen eine Seele wohnt;
 deshalb raubt'ich Bertalda aus der Fischerhütte
 und sandte dich dahin. Mein teures Kind,
 vergib; und magst du mich auch grausam wähnen,
 ich bin es nicht; o trockne deine Tränen.
 O kehr zurück! Mein eitel Sehnen
 ist nun gestillt, o kehr zurück!
 Bald fließen milder deine Tränen,
 bald lacht dir wieder stilles Glück.
