by Karl Gottfried von Leitner (1800 - 1890)

Die Sommernacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mit stillem Schmachten spähen
Die Sterne her vom Blau
Und alle Lüfte wehen
Wie Liebesodem lau

Sanft schauert's in den Bäumen
Und halbverstohlen lacht
In wonn'gen Liebesträumen
Die Taube durch die Nacht

Gesang der Nachtigallen
Durchzittert tief die Luft
Und Schlafgemach und Hallen
Erfüllet Rosenduft

Es lüftet die Gardinen
Ein leiser Fächelwind
Das nützt mit schlauen Mienen
Der heitre Mond geschwind

Guckt ohne mein Erlauben
Zum Fenster dreist herein
Und will mir gar nicht glauben
Dass ich so ganz allein.
