Wer liegt im öden verwachsenen Wald, 
Bei seinem Rosse so bleich und kalt, 
Verzerrt das Gesicht vor Verzweiflungsschmerz, 
Die Hand gepresst auf das stumme Herz? 
Graf Rolf ist's, der so wild that jagen,
