by Carl Alexander Simon (1805 - 1852), as Carl Alexander

Der Wanderer
Language: German (Deutsch)
Stehe still, Wanderer!
Ich muss dich fragen, woher du kommst.
Frage die Sonn' und den Mond,
frage den Stern, wo er wohnt:
Ich gehe ein und aus,
habe kein eigen Haus!

Stehe still, Wanderer!
Ich muss dich fragen, wohin du gehst.
Frage die Nacht und den Tag,
Eins zieht dem Anderen nach:
Ich gehe hin und her,
sage, was fragst du mehr?

Stehe still, Wanderer!
Ich muss dich fragen, wer du bist.
Frage die Blumen im Tal,
blühen und welken zumal:
Ich ziehe her und hin,
weiß es nicht, wer ich bin!
