by Luise Aloysia Maria Hensel (1798 - 1876)

Heimweh
Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Erde rauhe Winde
Sie thun dem armen Kinde,
O Vater!  gar zu weh.
Dort oben ist es linde,
Da ist kein Sturm, kein Schnee.

Mich zieht ein stetes Sehnen
Nach jenen reinern Tönen,
Nach jenem hellern Licht;
Die schmerzenvollen Thränen
Versiegen ewig nicht.

Das kalte Erdenleben
Kann mir doch gar nicht geben,
Was dieses Sehnen hemmt.
O laß mich aufwärts schweben!
Hier wird mir's gar zu fremd.

Woll'st, Vater!  Deinen Reinen
Die Müde bald vereinen;
Hier kann ich nichts mehr thun.
Die Augen, matt vom Weinen,
Die laß im Grabe ruhn!
