Translation by Johann Nepomuk Vogl (1802 - 1866)

Rößlein, Rößlein, laß dein Sträuben
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Hungarian (Magyar)
Rößlein, Rößlein, laß dein Sträuben,
Fliege über Moor und Heid,
Nur dein Fliegen kann betäuben
Einzig noch des Csikos Leid.

Fliege hin, wie Windessausen
Schnaubend über'm Hándsag1 fährt,
Daß das Sausen und das Brausen
Jedes Denken mir verwehrt.

Fort nur fort, und ohne Halten,
Wie ein Pfeil die Lüfte theilt,
Mag zur Kluft der Pfad sich spalten,
Daß uns nicht der Gram ereilt.

Mag die trägen Hirten schrecken
Unser Flug, aus ihrer Ruh',
Laß' sie bang' die Hälse strecken,
Flieg', o flieg' nur immer zu.
