by Elisabeth Pauline Ottilie Luise zu Wied, Prinzessin (1843 - 1916), as Carmen Sylva

Monrepos
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ob dem weißen Hause träumt der Wald,
durch die Riesenstämme Mondlicht wallt.
Ach, ich möcht' anbeten jeden Baum!
Hier hab' ich getrunken Jugendtraum!
All' die schönen Lieder fand ich hier,
hab' sie mir erlauschet, Wald, von dir!
Ob in kleinen Stübchens Laubgewind'
alle die Gedanken wohl noch sind?
Drunten gleitet feiernd Silberband!
Selbst ein Strahl, der Rhein hin durch das Land!
In den Zweigen flüstert's jung mir zu;
hier winkt mir ewig meine Ruh'!
