by Karl Stieler (1842 - 1885)

Ohne Wehr
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es mißt wohl guie zwei Ellen
Mein altes vlämisches Schwert,
Hab' manchen schlimmen Gesellen
Damit zum Himmel bekehrt.

Ich mag ihm mein Leben schulden
Wohl zehenmal und mehr,
Doch wider deine Dulden
Hilft keine Waffe und Wehr.

Da ist jeder Harnisch offen,
Da schützt kein eisernes Kleid --
Wen du in's Herz getroffen,
Ist wund für alle Zeit!
