by (Karl) Wilhelm Osterwald (1820 - 1887)

Mit warmen Armen halt' ich dich
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mit warmen Armen halt' ich dich
  Vom Traum der Liebe eingewiegt,
Gleichwie die junge Rebe sich
Leis flüsternd um die Ulme schmiegt.

O du mein Stolz, du meine Luft,
Mein Herz, mein Hort, mein Alles du,
In deinem Arm an deiner Brust
  Ist meine Freiheit, meine Ruh.

Und flög' ich hoch am Himmelszelt
  In freier Luft als Vögelein,
Du sollst doch in der weiten Welt
  Nun einzig meine Freiheit sein.

Confirmed with Gedichte von Wilhelm Osterwald, Dritte umgearbeitete und vermehrte Auflage, Leipzig, Verlag von F. G. C. Leuckart (Constantin Sander), 1873, page 52.
