by Emanuel von Geibel (1815 - 1884)

Spanisches Ständchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wenn du droben halb entschlummert
Ruhst im stillen Kämmerlein,
O so horche! Meine Lieder
Wiegen gern in Traum dich ein.

Leise plätschern hier die Brunnen
In des Mondes goldnem Licht,
Das mit wunderhellem Strahle
In dein offnes Fenster bricht.

Im Orangenhaine flötet
Sanft der Nachtigallen Chor,
Und die dunklen Rosen senden
Süße Düfte dir empor.

Düften, Liedern, Mondenstrahlen
Öffnest du das Kämmerlein:
O, so laß denn auch die Liebe,
Laß die Liebe zu dir ein!

Confirmed with Emanuel Geibel. Sänger der Liebe, Herold des Reiches. Ein deutsches Dichterleben, written and edited by Dr. Karl Theodor Gaedertz, Leipzig: Georg Wigand, 1897, page 136.
