by Nikolay Grigorevich Tsyganov (1797 - 1832)
Translation Singable translation by Anonymous / Unidentified Author

Der rothe Sarafan
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Russian (Русский)
"Nähe nicht, lieb' Mütterlein,
Am rothen Sarafan,
Lasse nur die Arbeit sein,
Die doch nichts nützen kann."

"Tochter, setz' dich nieder
An meiner Seite hier, --
Jugend kehrt nicht wieder,
Wich sie erst von dir.

Bleichen erst die Wangen
Dir in ernster Zeit, -
Fühlst du, daß die Jugend
Nichts als Eitelkeit.

Es vergeh'n die Jahre,
Lust und Freude flieht,
Und das Roth der Wangen
Treulos von dir zieht.

Auch ich hab' gesungen, --
Lachte, tanzt' und sprang;
Mein Lied' ist nunmehr verklungen,
Bin nun alt und krank.

Doch wenn ich dich seh' und höre,
Werd' ich wieder jung;
Näh' den rothen Sarafan
Mir zur Erinnerung."
