Hell das stille Thal entlang?

Dieser heil'ge Sphärenklang?
Der Engel der Andacht ist's, der zu dir spricht:
Vergiß deinen Vater, den himmlischen, nicht.
Ehre sei Gott in der Höhe! 

Aus den Fenstern freundlich blinken
Weihnachtsbäumchens Lichterlein,
Und sie wollen grüßend winken,
Laden dich zur Freude ein. 
Der Engel der Liebe, er grüßet zur Nacht,
Hat Segen und Wonne hernieder gebracht.
Ehre sei Gott in der Höhe! 

Durch die Schöpfung leise, leise
Rauscht ein wunderbarer Sang,  
Kennst du diese fromme Weise,
Diesen sel'gen Geisterklang? 
Der Engel des Friedens, er läutet zur Ruh',
Er wendet dein Auge dem Himmlischen zu.
