Röslein und Schmetterling

Es war einmal ein Röslein,
das war so jung, das war so schön;
ich hab' im Erdenrund 
kein schön'res noch geseh'n.

Ein Schmetterling kam flatternd, 
ein munt'rer Bursch, der sah die Blum' 
und zog von Lieb' ergriffen 
um sie im Kreis herum.

Und immer kam er näher,
er konnt' dem Drang nicht widersteh'n;
da traf ein Dorn sein Herz
es war um ihn gescheh'n!
