by Guido (Pieter Theodoor Jozef) Gezelle (1830 - 1899)

Perels
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Nog eer de blaren schieten,
  in 't hofbeluik,
hoe geren zie 'k uw' sprieten,
  o perenstruik;
hoe geren zie 'k uw' takken
  vol blommen staan,
vol perels, al in pakken
  eer ze opengaan!

En mochte ik maar, zoo even,
  door Gods beschik,
u, peretakken, geven
  nen toovertik;
't en zou geen' pere krommen
  uw hout, voortaan:
veel liever zie 'k de blommen,
  eer ze opengaan.

'k Zie geren, in de hoven,
  uw' peren groot,
de zonne zitten stoven,
  al rijp en rood;
maar 'k zie wel nog zoo geren
  uw' blommen staan,
de perels van de peren,
  eer ze opengaan.
