by Ferdinand von Saar (1833 - 1906)

Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Des Parkes weite Räume
Umflort die stille Nacht;
Es steh'n die alten Bäume
In düst'rer Wipfelpracht.

Die Pfade wie versunken,
Am Himmel nicht ein Stern;
Verstummt ist schlummertrunken
Das Leben nah und fern.

So müd', so nachtumfangen,
So lautlos bist auch du,
Als wärst du eingegangen
Schon längst zur ew'gen Ruh'.

Nur wie im Dunkel blühen
Die Rosen dort am Strauch,
Will leis' dich noch durchglühen
Ein letzter Liebeshauch.
