Sonniges, wonniges Maiengrün

Sonniges, wonniges Maiengrün,
Duftende, schimmernde Felder,
Blitzendes, neckisches Wellensprühn, 
Wogend, ragende Wälder,
Ach! wie ihr Jedem in's Herz doch lacht,
Jeden so fröhlich, so glücklich macht! 

Ach!  wie ihr winket, ihr blauen Höhn
Rings aus der duftigen Ferne,
Ach! wie ihr blinket so tausendschön,
Blumen, und hebet die Sterne,
Lächelt und flüstert:  Ist Gott nicht treu?
Lasse vom Zagen und hoff' auf's neu! 
 
Leiht mir denn, muntere Vögel all,
Euere fröhlichsten Weisen,
Daß ich mit freudigem Sang und Schall
Droben den Vater mag preisen,
Der uns so prächtig zum Trost in's Land,
Eh wir's gedachten, den Mai gesandt!
