by Franz Alfred Muth (1839 - 1890)

Nachtsegen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es liegt das Tal in Ruhe,
nun schlummert jede Brust,
und aus des Herzens Truhe
steigt süßer Träume Lust.

Es wiegt auf schwankem Stengel
der Flieder sich im Wind,
durchs Fenster fliegen Engel
und küssen jedes Kind.

Was fragt ihr da am Morgen,
wenn's Kindlein selig lacht?
Was klagt ihr da voll Sorgen,
wenn's nimmermehr erwacht?

Confirmed with Haideröslein. Ein Liederstrauß von Franz Alfred Muth, Würzburg, 1870.
