Während des Morgens am Himmelsdome
Mond und Gestirn bleich Abschied nahm,
Fand ich dich wartend, sagtest mir: "Komm'!",
    Und ach! ich kam!

Später gen Mittag blickt' ich entzückt
Dir in die Augen selig und bang,
Sagtest mir: "Singe!", schienst mir beglückt,
    Und ach! ich sang!

Und als die Nacht kam, diesmal so frühe,
Und mich bei dir fand, einziges Lieb,
Sagtest du herzlos: "Lass' mich und flieh'!",
    Ich aber blieb!
