by Klaus Groth (1819 - 1899)

Still, wie unterm warmen Dach
Language: German (Deutsch)
Still, wie unterm warmen Dach,
Liegt das Dorf im weißen Schnee;
In den Erlen schläft der Bach,
Unterm Eis der blanke Schnee.

Weiden steh'n im weißen Haar,
Spiegeln sich in starrer Flut;
Alles ruhig, kalt und klar
Wie der Tod der ewig ruht.

Weit, so weit das Auge sieht,
keinen Ton vernimmt das Ohr,
Blau zum blauen Himmel zieht
Sacht der Rauch vom Schnee empor.

Möchte schlafen wie der Baum,
Ohne Lust und ohne Schmerz;
Doch der Rauch zieht wie im Traum
Still nach Haus mein Herz.
