by Ludwig Hinterding (b. 1836)

Gut' Nacht, lieb Kind
Language: German (Deutsch)
Gut' Nacht, lieb Kind, die Äuglein zu,
und träume süßen Traum!
Die Welt liegt rings in tiefer Ruh',
kein Blättchen rauscht am Baum.
Ein munt'res Vöglein nur noch schlägt
im dunklen Buchenhain,
und sel'ge Märchenträume trägt
sein Lied ins Kämmerlein.

Am Himmel schwimmt so still der Mond
auf lichter Wolkenflut,
und Gott, der über Wolken thront,
nimmt dich in treue Hut.
Und all' die Sternlein, groß und klein,
die halten treue Wacht,
die grüßen all' ins Kämmerlein:
Lieb Kindlein, gute Nacht!
